Anonymous: What should I do about a film camera that back won’t open(like when I lift up the thing that you spin for the film)? Sorry I know nothing about cameras I’m just barely starting by trying to find one that actually works

Depending on how much you spent on it I might chalk it up to a loss and instead find a camera you’d be happy with on eBay–you can usually count on the camera being in good shape if the seller is based out of Japan but what you’re really looking for is verification that it’s in user-ready shape (this usually looks like the description of “Tested and working” or “Recently CLA’d”). You can find reliable cameras through eBay that won’t break the bank even with international shipping costs.

Anonymous: Despite Kodak announcement of rereleases it’s ektachrome stock how long do you think film will continue to be produced, assuming that’s something that looms over your head from time to time?

I feel like anything can happen but I’m not too worried. In 2016 the only product of Kodak’s that was making a profit was film. On top of that, having directors like Tarantino who sign 5-year contracts with studios stipulated on using film for every movie adds a lot of financial buffer. Personally, I don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon.

I’d love to! I just want to make sure it’s something I feel is worth publishing.
